Celebrating 15 Years of Change: The 2024 WBE Canada National Conference & Expo

The 2024 WBE Canada National Conference & Expo, held November 13-14 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto Airport & Conference Centre, marked a historic milestone in advancing supplier diversity and women-owned business excellence in Canada. With more than 375 attendees, 45 tradeshow booths, and dynamic keynote speakers, this year’s conference was a powerful reflection of 15 years of inspiring inclusion and innovation in Canada’s supply chains.

Kim Van Ryn of The Expert Talk (and Branching Out Support Services) delivered an insightful presentation on the importance of understanding and supporting neurodiverse talent in the workplace. She emphasized the need to shift mindsets and dismantle stigma, pointing out that neurodiversity is often invisible but comes with unique strengths and barriers.

Kim introduced a three-step model to create an inclusive workplace: Accessibility (ensuring all can participate), Inclusion (actively fostering equitable opportunities), and Belonging (creating spaces where individuals feel safe to be themselves). Her poignant analogy of “belonging is dancing like no one is watching” left a lasting impression, reminding attendees of the transformative power of an inclusive environment.
