Frequently Asked Questions About Mental Health Services

What mental health services does Branching Out Support Services offer

Branching Out Support Services offers neuroaffirming and trauma-informed mental health supports for neurodivergent adults and their support circles. Services may include counselling, neurodiversity coaching, emotional wellness support, ADHD support, trauma-informed care, mental health check-ins, addictions support, caregiver support, and individualized therapeutic services.

Who are mental health services designed for

Our mental health services are designed for neurodivergent adults, including individuals with autism, ADHD, developmental disabilities, communication differences, and complex support needs. We also support families, caregivers, and chosen support circles.

What does neuroaffirming mental health support mean

Neuroaffirming support recognizes neurodiversity as a natural part of human variation rather than something to be fixed. Our services respect communication styles, sensory needs, processing differences, autonomy, and lived experiences while supporting emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Do you offer trauma-informed mental health support

Yes. Our services are rooted in trauma-informed care. We recognize that many neurodivergent and disabled individuals have experienced medical trauma, social exclusion, behavioral intervention trauma, bullying, discrimination, or other adverse experiences. Our goal is to create supportive and emotionally safe therapeutic relationships.

Do you offer services for people who are non-speaking or communicate differently

Yes. Branching Out Support Services recognizes that communication differences should never be a barrier to mental health support. We work with individuals who may be non-speaking, unreliably speaking, use AAC devices, letterboards, visual communication, or other communication methods.

Are your services available in person or online

We provide in-person mental health services throughout Orangeville and Dufferin County. We also offer virtual and online supports for individuals and families across Ontario.

Where are you located

Do you provide counselling for neurodivergent adults

Yes. We provide counselling and therapeutic supports designed specifically for neurodivergent adults. Our approach recognizes that traditional therapy models may not always meet the needs of neurodivergent individuals.

Do you support adults with autism or ADHD

Yes. We support adults with autism, ADHD, and other neurodiversities through individualized mental health supports, coaching, counselling, and community-based services.

What makes your mental health services different from traditional therapy

Our services are participant-centered, neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, and flexible. Rather than focusing on making individuals appear “less disabled,” we focus on emotional wellbeing, connection, empowerment, self-understanding, and supportive therapeutic relationships.

Do you offer support for caregivers and families

Yes. We recognize that caregivers and support circles also need support, understanding, and guidance. Services may include caregiver support, consultation, and collaborative planning.

Can Passport funding be used for mental health supports

Some services may be eligible for Passport funding depending on the individual’s plan and goals. We encourage individuals and families to contact us directly to discuss funding options and service eligibility.
