The Commonfare Kitchen Receives Grant Funding
The Town of Orangeville’s Economic Development & Culture office congratulates the CommonFare Kitchen on being successful recipients of My Main Street’s Local Business Accelerator program. The Commonfare Kitchen will receive a non-repayable funding contribution of $10,000 to support their main street business.
The CommonFare Kitchen, a division of Branching Out Support Services, applied to My Main Street’s Local Business Accelerator program to help with the expenses of opening its commercial kitchen. With the funding, Branching Out Support Services was able to purchase kitchen wares, a portable handwashing station that can be used in the kitchen as well as at events, and a new stainless steel sink. A portion of the funding was also used towards the purchase of inventory for its granola product line. The goal of the CommonFare Kitchen is to provide kitchen skills and food workshops to our community as well as create employment opportunities for neurodiverse individuals. We are excited to see this business grow and experience its contribution to our downtown.
With support from the Government of Canada for My Main Street through FedDev Ontario, the team at the Economic Development & Culture office is working hard to support Orangeville’s downtown businesses.
This program is part of an overall Government of Canada investment through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) of $23.5 million to support the recovery and revitalization of main streets and local businesses in southern Ontario.
